Salt church

The Salt Church was originally the chapel of the Hospital of Saint Spiritus and was built around 1460 as a single-nave late Gothic brick building. With the Reformation in 1547, the hospitals were dissolved and the chapel was converted into a salt storage facility, hence its current name "Salt Church." In 1902, a diesel generator was installed in the Salt Church to generate electricity for the town. It operated until the mid-1960s. The church was restored in 1997 and is now a popular venue for cultural events and weddings.
