Beustertor in the Hanseatic town of Seehausen

The Beustertor - the last remaining town gate in Seehausen - offers an impressive insight into the history of the town. It was once the gateway to Seehausen's Elbe port in Kamps and therefore an important hub for trade connections to the north by water.
The late Gothic brick building impresses with its striking fortress character. The entrance and exit of the gate was timelessly protected by two wings made of heavy oak beams, secured with real iron - a testimony to traditional craftsmanship.
The staircase to the gatekeeper's apartment is a special experience: a stone spiral staircase and steep wooden steps lead up to the three-storey former gatekeeper's quarters and give you an idea of what life behind the gates may have been like back then.
Note: When visiting, you can combine your visit with views of the surrounding waterways and the historic cityscape.
