Apply for a temporary passport
Service description
You will have to wait at least 2 weeks for a regular passport. An express passport takes around 3 to 4 working days. If this is not quick enough for your travel plans, you can apply for a temporary passport. You must justify this to the Citizens' Registration Office.
You will receive your temporary passport immediately when you apply, so you don't have to wait for it.
The temporary passport does not contain an electronic storage medium (chip). Therefore, your fingerprints are not recorded.
In some countries, such as the USA, visa-free entry is only possible with a passport containing a chip. If you wish to enter with a temporary passport, you will therefore also need a visa in these cases.
You can find out about the current entry requirements for your destination country and the necessary identification documents from the Federal Foreign Office.
