Around 20 pupils from Seehausen Community School spent an exciting day at yesterday's Future Day at Seehausen Hospital.
Practice supervisor Benny Friedrichs prepared the day and, together with Kristin Kirschke, also a practice supervisor, took the children on an adventure tour through everyday hospital life. After getting to know each other, there was a lot of information about everyday hospital life and the individual departments. After that, the theory, which was sweetened with popcorn in the style of a movie, came to an end and we went on an adventure tour in two groups. The first group looked at individual areas and professional groups. One station, for example, was the laboratory with exciting insights. The cleaning staff also presented their professional group and made it clear that every profession in the hospital is important and contributes to the smooth running of the hospital. The second group concentrated fully on nursing, which was shown live and up close. The children were able to try out an old people's suit and simulate how difficult everyday life is for elderly people and people suffering from dementia. They then had to find their way around a darkroom wearing the suit and experience certain situations, which was not always easy. But what steps are needed to move a patient and how do I get a slider under the patient if they can't get up? Here, too, there were active answers. After an hour, the groups were swapped so that all students could get a taste of all areas. At the end, the impressions were evaluated and questions that had arisen were answered.
The day was a lot of fun for the hospital's practice supervisors. The children also found the insight into everyday hospital life very exciting and interesting. It will be interesting to see who will later choose a career in the healthcare sector.
