Planting is planned for the northern, western, and eastern areas of the lake to allow a biotope to develop there. In the southern area, the plan is to create a roughly 50-meter-long section of shoreline using sand. The remaining area is to be landscaped as a natural meadow.
As part of a public meeting on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the Geestgottberg Community Center, residents will have the opportunity to contribute to the future design of the south bank and to decisions regarding the southern noise barrier.
The survey includes two options for expressing an opinion, each of which allows respondents to vote “Yes” or “No”:
1. Should a sandy shore be created in the southern part of Kiessee?
If approved, the southern shore area is to be redesigned to create a sandy section approximately 50 meters long that residents can use. This is expressly not a swimming beach. Access to the sandy shore will be via Schulstraße between house numbers 27 and 28.
2. Should the southern noise barrier be completely dismantled?
If approved, the southern noise barrier is to be completely removed.
Who is eligible to participate in the survey?
All residents who are at least 16 years old on the day of the survey and whose primary residence is in the town of Geestgottberg are eligible to vote. The survey is intended solely to gauge the opinions of residents. It does not constitute a referendum as defined by law.
