In the council chamber of the historic town hall in Seehausen (Altmark), the six historic wooden windows dating from the 1880s are being replaced, and the valuable leaded-glass windows are being restored at the same time. The windows are drafty and cause heat loss, drafts, and moisture problems, which are already leading to condensation inside the building.
The distinctive Gothic windows with stained-glass panes will be preserved in their original form. The stained-glass windows will be professionally restored and then integrated into new, energy-efficient wooden window frames, thereby combining the historic design with modern energy-efficiency standards.
The project is receiving funding covering 70% of the total costs as part of a LEADER/EAFRD-funded project. The total cost is €83,062.00. Of this amount, €58,142.40 is funded by LEADER/ELER, while the municipality’s own contribution is €24,919.60.
