Pipe network flushing is a preventive maintenance task necessary for operations to ensure the quality of drinking water. Pipe network flushing removes unwanted deposits from the drinking water system. Natural water constituents that are harmless to health, such as iron and manganese, accumulate in the pipes over the years. These deposits must be removed regularly to maintain the pipe network and prevent uncontrolled cloudiness in the drinking water. No chemical additives are used. The pipes are flushed using only clear drinking water. For extensive network flushing, a method known as “suction flushing” is employed. In this process, a suction pump creates an increased flow velocity within the pipes, reliably dislodging the mineral deposits from the inner walls. These iron and manganese residues are completely harmless to health but can cause temporary cloudiness in the drinking water if the water is allowed to run for a short time. The mineral deposits responsible for the cloudiness will then disappear after a short time. During this process, it is recommended not to wash white laundry.
