Many guests brought homemade dishes. A 90-year-old participant had prepared chilled cherry soup with dumplings—just the thing for the warm weather. Another participant brought cherry cake. It was even still warm.
The feedback from many visitors was particularly heartwarming: they said they had come primarily to meet new people. The shared picnic and conversations about the food everyone brought provided a natural icebreaker. Almost like at a family gathering, people who had been strangers just moments before sat together and “chatted.” One participant summed it up this way: “There were such wonderful things from Schönberg’s gardens and such great conversations.” That’s exactly what the project is all about: experiencing a sense of community through shared activities, striking up conversations, and perhaps even making new friends.
The project is now inviting people to its next open meeting:

Schönberg
The purpose of this meeting is to plan further activities and gather feedback. Everyone who has already participated is invited—and we especially encourage those who are not yet familiar with the project to attend. The team would particularly like to hear from those who have not yet participated, in order to better understand what interests them and what would motivate them to join.
Starting in mid-August, there will also be regular game and social afternoons. These are expected to take place every other Tuesday (odd calendar weeks) from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be games for different age groups, as well as coffee and an opportunity to socialize.
In September, we'll be heading outdoors: We're planning a collaboration with the Schönberger Deichknirpse daycare center.
A kite festival is scheduled for October. Specific dates and details will be announced shortly.
