The 2025–2026 school year is drawing to a close, and the upcoming school year is already on the horizon. To ensure that all students in the Stendal district who rely on school transportation can use the service on time, applications must be submitted online at www.stendalbus.de by June 30.
The first days of the new school year mark the start of a new chapter in the lives of one group of children in particular: the first graders. If they want to use school transport, parents must apply for this for the first time. This can be done on a PC or smartphone via the website of bus network operator Stendalbus by June 30. The corresponding ticket in the form of a chip card will then be sent by post in good time. It is valid from August 17 for the entire school year and must be presented daily for every journey.
Students who already have a Deutschlandticket from Stendalbus must keep it, even though it is not valid during the summer break. There will be no new physical ticket for the new school year; instead, the existing one will simply be updated. To renew the ticket so that it is valid again starting August 17, you must submit a new application online at www.stendalbus.de.
There is a change for a number of girls and boys who are moving from year four to year five. Fourth graders who live in the Stendal, Tangermünde and Tangerhütte districts (not local districts) will only hand in their Deutschlandticket at school on the last day of school if their place of residence and school location are the same for the 2026/2027 school year. Otherwise: the Deutschlandticket must be applied for online for the new school year. From the 2026/2027 school year, fifth-graders who travel more than five kilometers to school are entitled to a travel pass from the district of Stendal in accordance with the current legal basis. In the primary school years, they were previously entitled to a travel pass for a distance of two kilometers or more.
Students who already have a Deutschlandticket and are changing school types—for example, from a Gymnasium to a secondary school or a comprehensive school—may keep their ticket. They simply need to submit a new application for student transportation online at www.stendalbus.de. All students transferring to a vocational school must return their ticket to the school on their last day of school and then apply for a new ticket for the 2026/2027 school year. Vocational students who received the Deutschlandticket free of charge from the Stendal district must return it to the school on their last day of school.
