Registrations are accepted through August 31, 2026. Numerous oak trees in the Seehausen (Altmark) municipal association area have been infested by the oak processionary moth. To reduce health risks to the public and prevent further spread, control measures are also planned for 2027.
Private owners can have their infested oak trees included in the joint measures. Applications must be received by the Seehausen (Altmark) Municipal Association no later than August 31, 2026.
In general, the owners or authorized representatives of the affected properties are responsible for monitoring the trees and taking the necessary preventive and control measures. If infested oak trees pose a health hazard to people, appropriate measures must be taken at the owner’s own expense as part of the duty to ensure public safety.
The following control methods are planned:
Aerial Aviation Chemical Control
The estimated cost is approximately 680 euros (gross) per hectare treated. The standard spray width is 32 meters. The method is therefore particularly suitable for contiguous groups of trees or larger stands of oak.
For individual trees and small groups of trees, additional costs may arise due to the greater technical and organizational effort involved. Implementation is only possible if the measure is technically and legally permissible.
Chemical Control from the Ground
The estimated cost is approximately 4.50 euros (gross) per tree.
Mechanical Control by Vacuuming
The estimated cost is approximately 62 euros (gross) per tree.
All amounts are preliminary estimates. Actual costs may vary, particularly depending on the outcome of the bid, local conditions, the size and location of the tree population, and the amount of work required.
Every application is reviewed
Registration does not confer a legal right to the implementation of a control measure. First, an assessment is conducted to determine whether the measure can actually be implemented from a technical and legal standpoint.
Factors taken into account include, among others:
- the instructions for use of the proposed biocidal product Foray ES,
- required safety distances,
- the location and accessibility of the trees,
- adjacent properties and bodies of water,
- Protected areas and protected habitats,
- requirements under nature conservation law, as well as
- Organizational and weather-related requirements.
Particular attention should be paid to Section 30a of the Federal Nature Conservation Act. This section generally prohibits the widespread use of certain biocidal products in specially protected areas and biotopes. Exceptions are permitted only under certain conditions.
Once the review is complete, applicants will be informed whether control measures can be implemented and, if so, in what form.
The Seehausen (Altmark) Municipal Association does not offer nematode treatment.
Registration and Additional Information
The oak trees to be treated must be located on the applicant’s property. The required registration form is available on the Seehausen (Altmark) Municipal Association’s website under “Forms.”
The registration deadline is August 31, 2026.
